Rooted in the idea of how the simple act of cooking a dish can reinvigorate the community in more ways than one, what better way to #stayhomestaysafe while making a difference in the lives of others?

In this current COVID-19 pandemic, United Women Singapore (“UWS”) and ELAN have partnered to launch #cooksharegive to raise funds in support of – Star Shelter, a service by the SCWO, ELAN is a social platform that supports fashion, design, and philanthropy. It aims to support grass root creativity in the fields of art, culture, design and lifestyle in South East Asia. giving a voice to the invisible creators and caregivers of the world.

To participate:

  1. Cook your favourite dish
  2. Post a picture of the dish. Caption with the list of ingredients and its costs on Facebook and/or Instagram:  I have succeeded in the #UWSxElan challenge! Price of dish & matching donation: $xx  I nominate (list of 5 friends) to start cooking and giving with me. Cook your best dish, share it on your social media pages and donate the total cost of your ingredients to Star Shelter on giving.sg
  3. Tag us @unitedwomensingapore @ELAN.sg and nominate 5 of your friends who share the same passion. Add our hashtag #UWSxELAN #cooksharegive in your social media posts
  4. Donate the total cost of the ingredients or any amount you wish to this initiative via the donation link here

About The Beneficiary

Star Shelter aims to provide a safe temporary refuge for women and their children who are victims of family violence regardless of race, language, creed or religion. We also empower the victims to manage and take responsibility for their lives, and assist them in rebuilding their lives free from violence.

All the residents are referred by the Family Court, Family Service Centres, the Police, Hospitals and other Agencies
